The 2 Bands and Timing
The first band is "Ten O'Clock Breakfast" with Mr Richard W on harmonica! They are Santa Cruz seniprofessionals and rather good. They start at 6:30pm.

There will be costume prizes in the shape of blinking rotating balls, kindly donated by Tommie! Be there before 8:15 to be judged by the roving judges. Costume prizes awarded at 8:45pm. Also, birthday prizes for all those born in January!

The main band will be Suellen's "Entourage." They know how to belt out those dancey blues and rock numbers with a helluva voice! They are on from 8:45 thru 1am.

Where
The Moose Lodge in Scotts Valley is a comfortable venue with a good dance floor, a cheap bar, and lots of parking. Easy to get to. About 10 miles north of Santa Cruz.

Exit Highway 17 at the Mt Hermon exit and follow the signs with the mirror ball picture above.

Address is 2470 El Rancho Dr., Santa Cruz, Ca 95060, or see www.scmoose545.org

The Blinky Ball Theme
"Blinky" means 3 things: wear something that glows in the dark, glows in blacklight, or is lit-up. You can also combine with a marine theme or space theme, see props below. It's easy, it's cheap, it's quick, it's new and it's fun. Here's how to do it:

1. Glow in Dark:
Glowsticks and glow necklaces from Woodworm party stores. About $3 and up.

2. Glows in Blacklight.
a. Blacklight body paint. Party stores $10
b. Fluorescent clothing or fur
c. Any white clothing.

3. Lit up:
(ie. Battery-powered lights draped around your neck or on a hat. )

a. LED lights on a string. (They are often put around dishes on the table at Christmas time). Beverly's Craft stores $10-20. Try also CVS.

b. LED lit-up wands and necklaces. Flashing Panda.com

c. Electroluminescent wire. This is like shoelace that lights up like neon. Battery-powered. Outdoor world $28. CoolNeon.com $10 and up. Jameco.com $25.

Props
We are making some fun props to have your picture taken against, including the Kelp Forest and Alien Space landscape. If you would like to help come Sunday Jan 20th 11am to 5pm to 2615 Monterey Ave, Soquel, CA 95073. 650 814 7873.

Gourmet Food Truck
We will have Cruz n Gourmet (cruzngourmet.com) visiting from 6:30pm. They serve a variety of yummy tacos and were very popular last time. Many people eat several dishes throughout the evening, priced at $3-8. Here is the menu:

Sweet Indonesian Pulled Pork served on a bed of creamy sesame slaw and topped with crunchy rice noodles and spring onion (our signature dish)

House Smoked Tri Tip served on a bed of lettuce and topped with housemade tomato chipotle chutney, served with a lime wedge

Southwest Grilled Chicken served on a bed of lettuce and topped with corn and black bean salsa and chipotle cream

Sweet and Spicy Thai Style Prawns served on a bed of lettuce and topped with lime infused cream sauce and krupuk (crunchy prawn crackers) - a definite favorite

Mediterranean Style Vegetables grilled and served on a bed of lettuce and topped with our cilantro and almond pesto cream sauce

Why Rupert & Marie hold these parties
Rupert likes big parties, supporting live music and dancing. Marie likes costumes and dancing. There aren't enough parties in the winter. We are here to fill that gap.

Where your $15 goes
You are supporting live music by paying the bands a fair amount of money. You support the Moose Lodge in its charitable activities by renting the hall and buying drinks. You are paying insurance to protect people and property. You are contributing to the decorations and props. Your $15 goes a fair way to covering the costs of these parties because we aren't rich enough to pay for the large costs, sorry. We hope you feel this is fair.
